Waste types are classified per the European Waste Catalogue (EWC / EU List of Waste) and the Basel Convention (Y-codes for hazardous streams). Management routes follow the EU Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC) waste hierarchy, and diversion status follows GRI 306: Waste 2020 (incineration — with or without energy recovery — counts as directed to disposal). Add site- or country-specific waste types in Settings.

Licensed Waste Contractors / Facilities

Register your licensed waste carriers and treatment/disposal facilities — they appear as suggestions in the New Waste Record modal (duty-of-care best practice: only transfer waste to licensed operators).

Custom Waste Types

Add waste streams not in the built-in library (e.g. red mud, tailings, drilling fluids) — they appear in the Waste Type list of the New Waste Record modal and in Waste Types & Standards.

Diversion Target

Share of waste (by tonnage) to divert from disposal via re-use, recycling, composting or other recovery (GRI 306-4). The dashboard highlights performance against this target.
